The Cultural Center "Euxinus" from Mangalia hosted on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 15: 30, the festivity of the works participating in the international competition «THE CHILDREN AND THE SEA", its sixth edition. The project is initiated and coordinated by the primary teacher Rodica Codău and the high school teacher Ghiulserin Sali , both from "Callatis» High School, and it has been selected and introduced in CAEN by the Ministry of Education, in the last four years.
There were 1238 drawings in the competition made by children in kindergarten and students from the 1st to the 11th grade, 279 literary creations (in Romanian, French and English) written by students from the classes 3rd grade to the 11th grade and 241 photographs taken by students from the 4th to the 11th grades.
The trophy “The Children and The Sea” was awarded to Andreea Cioară, an 8th grade pupil from The Art College « Regina Maria », Constanţa, in the art section. In the literary creations section the trophy was awarded to a student from Arouca, Portugal, CÁTIA PINHO and in the photography section the trophy was awarded to Roxana Luduşan from Pedagogical College „Gheorghe Lazăr” , Cluj-Napoca.
There were 165 awards and commendations to three sections by age. The City Hall of Mangalia, The NGO "Save the Children", The "CALLATIS 96" Foundation rewarded the students with outstanding works.
The participating students came from 10 foreign countries (Bulgaria - Varna and Dobrich, Portugal - Arouca, Italy - Teramo, Turkey - Istanbul and Eskişehir, Makedonia -Prilep, Greece - Zevohoria, Halkidiki, Hungary - Törökszentmiklós, Poland - Mielec, Pobiedziska and Bydgoszcz, Moldova - Chisinau and Slovakia - Turie,) and 32 of our counties from kindergartens and schools either public or private, a special school for physical disabilities or hearing, as well as art colleges.
Judging the works was provided by the inspectors of Constanta, representatives of the City Hall of Mangalia, Radio Constanta (journalist-commentator Steliana Bajdechi), "Save the Children", writer Emilia Dabu, a member of the Writers' Union, Foundation "Callatis", painter Robert Perko, The French library "Arthur Rimbaud from Mangalia," High School parents Association "Callatis" and specialist teachers from "Callatis" High School .
The children have depicted the beauty of marine landscapes and drew attention to the threats posed by pollution to the marine environment.
The best works will remain on display in the lobby of the Cultural Center "Euxinus", Mangalia.
